History of the Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal is described to be an immense historical monument built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his amiable queen Mumtaz Mahal. Taj Mahal stands erect by the Yamuna River epitomizing passionate love and massive ardor of a king for his queen. In his life time, Shah Jahan functioned as the ruler since 1628 to 1658; he created the love tomb "Taj Mahal" for his beloved. He got married to beautiful Arjumand Bano Begam in 1612 A.D. He called his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal as he wanted to refer to her as the crown of the palace as she was so precious for him. Shah Jahan and Mumtaz had 14 children, but after giving birth to her last child, she died in 1631.
At the time of dying, she wished to shah Jahan that he should construct a tomb in her memory. Furthermore, she mentioned it purposely that the tomb should be such that whole world had never seen something of that sort before. Shah jahan made her wish come true and created the most marvelous mausoleum in the globe. This wonderful Taj was completed with an unfailing effort of 22 long years. A huge labor force of 20,000 workers worked on a regular basis led by Muhammed Hanif, the head of the masons. The Persian architect Ustad Isa designed the greatest tomb. The Taj Mahal had cost the Mughal exchequer 32 million rupees. Shah Jahan had died in 1666 A.D. he too was buried beside his beloved Mumtaz Mahal.
