Raksha Bandhan Festival is the pure bond of love and affection a brother and a sister. This festival falls on the full moon day of the Hindu month Shravan (August). On the day of the festival, a sister ties the sacred thread on the wrist of her brother. The thread, which vibrates with sisterly love and virtuous sentiments, is called Rakhi a "bond of protection".

Raksha Bandhan is a divine festival not only sisters tie the sacred threads to their brother but the priests also tie to people of their congregation. For the period of ancient times, even supposing a woman ties a Rakhi on the wrist of any man; it in fact becomes vital for him, as his spiritual duty of the highest order for the protection of that woman. That man would put his life at stake to protect the honour of that woman.

Raksha Bandhan festival is completely devoted to make strong the love and affection between a sister and a brother. On the festival day, at the time of tying the sacred thread on the wrist of her brother she prays to God for long life of her brother and the brother promises to succor his sister in any circumstance. This custom has been there since time immemorial. On the other hand, there are assorted believes affixed with Rakhi, and for this reason people follow this certain custom and tradition to celebrate this festival.

In keeping with Indian traditions, the festival rituals follows as commemorating sacred sonnet (Mantras), sacred with rice, red color (roli) etc. Sisters bedeck themselves in typical Indian clothing serve their brother by putting Tilak of roli added with raw rice on the forehead of their brothers. Then sister tie Rakhi thread on their brother's wrist and offer them with the plate of sweets, here - the brother become obliged to protect her sister under any circumstances. It is believed that this protection thread Rakhi protects from sins on the one hand and removes diseases on the other hand.

Raksha Bandhan is ancient festival in India , celebrated from the times of Paandavas and Kauravas. One time Lord Krishna was injured and bleeding from his wrist. Draupadi, the wife of Paandavas had torn a shred of silk off her sari, and Draupadi tied it around the wrist of Lord Krishna to stop the flow of blood. Lord Krishna was extremely touched by her action that he found himself bound to her by love. Lord Krishna promised to return the grateful and then spent the next twenty five years doing just that. In spite of being married to five warriors (Paandavas) and being a daughter of a powerful ruler, Draupadi believed and depended only on Lord Krishna.
