Laxmi Vilas Palace was built in 1887 by the ruler of Bharatpur, Maharaja Ram Singh for his younger brother Raja Raghunath Singh. Hotel Laxmi Vilas Palace was redesigned into Heritage hotel in 1994. An eclectic and lively fusion of Rajput and Mughal architecture, palace was earlier named Raghunath Niwas though locals always preferred to call it Kakaji ki kothi.
