Ganga Sagar Mela is an annually fair, takes place in the Hindu month of Poush (in mid-month of January) thus the devotees pay their visit every year and take holy bath. The most magnificent occasion takes place on the day of Makar Shankranti' which occurs on the fixed date 14th January.
The Ganga is the holiest river in Hindu mythology and gaga starts her expedition in Prayag and ends her long journey. This holy place and merges with Bay of Bengal is also regarded as sacred destination like Prayag and so it is believed that taking a sacred dip in Ganga Sagar can get salvation from all sins.
The Ganga Sagar Mela is explored by various foreign tourists and tourist from other religious background and thus all cultures, heritages mishmashes to from a single one.
