 Located 37 kms far away from Agra , Fatehpur Sikri was built by the great Mughal Emperor Akbar during 1569 - 1585. Before built it, Akbar was 26 years old, did not have any mail heir. He went to a saint named Shaikh Salim Chisti who lived in Sikri. Saint's blessing gave Akar 3 sons. As a gesture, Akbar built a whole new city in Sikari. Fatehpur Sekri was under ruled by great Mughal Emperor Akbar approximately twelve years. During this period, Fatehpur Sikri was the capital of Mughal Emperor.
Fatehpur Sikri is one of the first examples of Mughal architectural splendour at its stature. Although the city is in ruins yet it is a place to visit if one comes to Agra tours. But in real terms Fatehpur Sikri is a place where one should spend some times in the quiet and relaxing environment. The sunset over the ruins is spectacle to take pleasure in. Fatehpur Sikri is one of the first examples of culmination of Hindu and Muslim architecture. Fatehpur Sikri Mosque is said to be a copy of the mosque in Mecca and has designs, derivative from the Persian & Hindu architecture.
